BlueRoo’s parent company, Blue Kangaroo, was founded by former Yahoo! executives specializing in big data, machine learning, and advertising technology.
Blue Kangaroo has two main offices in Burlingame, California, and Amman, Jordan.
Nick was formerly Yahoo!'s Vice President for Data Strategy, and has long been an advocate for more transparent, permission-based marketing services that put consumers in full control of the personal data that they share with the companies who sell things to them. A recognized expert in data valuation and privacy, Nick co-founded Yahoo!'s Data Governance Team and represented Yahoo! to the industry in matters regarding user data collection and use. Indeed, Nick was recently singled out by the Internet Advertising Bureau to receive its 2011 Service Excellence Award, recognizing his leading role in the development of the IAB's new Data Usage Control Primer. Nick was formerly a Vice President at Goldman Sachs Co., and President and COO of Strategy.com, an online consumer services company. A person of diverse scope, Nick originally was an astrophysicist who received his doctorate degree from Caltech, after graduating from Harvard (where, among other things, he was president of America's oldest collegiate theater group, Hasty Pudding Theatricals).
Prior to becoming CEO at Blue Kangaroo, Laurence was The Roo’s Chief Revenue Officer where he managed the business side of the Company including business development, marketing, editorial, content development, account management and strategic planning. Before Blue Kangaroo, Laurence was VP of Business Development for mobile marketing and advertising solutions provider Velti, launching the company's mobile ad exchange and attracting leading mobile operators, advertisers and publishers as partners. As a business and content development executive at leading media companies such as Yahoo!, Internet video company Mevio, and interactive TV platform provider, OpenTV, Laurence drove revenue-generating partnerships and introduced competitive content monetization initiatives. Laurence holds a Bachelor degree from Miami University, a Masters’ degree in International Economics and European Studies from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and a MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania.
Anthony oversees the Business Operations, Data Science, and Product Management teams, driving the product development process from inception to production both for Blue Kangaroo’s in-house products and for the Roo’s partners and clients. His prior managerial and technical experience in New York and Shanghai include product planning, data and actuarial analysis, data warehousing, business development, recruiting, and mentorship. Anthony launched his first website when he was 12, won dozens of mathematics competitions, speaks fluent Chinese, and enjoys BBQs, tennis, and international films. Anthony graduated from the University of Notre Dame with honors.
Khaldoun oversees Back-End, Front-End Engineering and QA for Blue Kangaroo. He is a key technical leader in the design and building of the Company's underlying personal shopping platform, and uncovering new technologies that drive significant product and platform advancements. His prior experience is with ProgressSoft, a financial services technology company, building check-clearing systems for banks. He also has experience developing distributed data structures, data mining systems, grid computing, computer vision, device controllers and image processing. Khaldoun has a BS in Computer Science from Balqa Applied University in Jordan, and a MS in Computer Science from State University of New York-Binghamton.
Fadi leads the Data Science lab developing machine learning algorithms in areas of natural language processing, content personalization, user profiling, data mining, and computer vision. He wrote his first program when he was 13 years old and has been hooked ever since. Fadi enjoys long hackathons, playing squash and traveling in his free time. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Systems Engineering and a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Manchester.
Qusay has over 15 years of experience in managing and operating the IT infrastructure and teams of various international companies including SIMTIX and Estarta Solutions. He possesses a broad and deep technical expertise in the fields of system administration (Windows-based and Linux-based OS platforms), networking technologies, enterprise-grade server technologies and client / server infrastructure technologies. Qusay holds bachelor degree (B.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Jordan.
Chris has more than 12 years of direct experience in online and digital marketing, including running his own marketing agency for SMBs, and managing customer acquisition and subscription lines for internet radio pioneer Live365. In his current role with Blue Kangaroo he manages all aspects of the online marketing efforts including digital strategy, SEO, SEM, Content and PR, Email, Video, and Mobile Marketing along with Multi-Variate Testing and Analytics. He enjoys the ever-changing nature of the online marketing world, and regularly tests new marketing trends in his spare time to stay ahead of the curve. Chris holds a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Business from San Francisco State University.
